Mellow Walk : Inside Our Shoes

Dear Mellow Walk:

I found Mellow Walk shoe boxes in my recycling bin. I asked who bought new safety shoes.....well.....my mom and dad both did for work. The school board has a contract with Marks Work Wearhouse to buy their uniforms and safety shoes there. So the compliment from my parents is that they feel like they are walking on a cloud. Easy to wear and soft over the toes...even though they are steel toes.

My mom and dad say keep up the good work!

Inside Our Shoes

Comfort

It is no accident that we know how to build comfortable safety shoes. A good fitting shoe needs a well developed Last (the solid mold that gives the shoe its final shape). Our Lasts are designed to give your foot room in the places you need it and to hug your foot in the places you need support. We like to think of our Lasts as the beginning of comfortable safety shoes not the end.

We also use a unique cushioning midsole (where others may use cardboard — or nothing at all!). This acts as a buffer between the insole and the outsole and provides comfort and support when standing or walking.

Next comes the insole. Mellow Walk does not rely on the insole to provide comfort rather designs the entire shoe to be comfortable. Our insoles are functional and function oriented, designed to support the SD or ESR attributes of the shoe. Lastly, Mellow Walk is known for the soft high quality leathers its uses in all of its shoes; leather not unlike what you would find in your typical walking shoe.

Protective Toe

At Mellow Walk, we understand the balance between good fitting (and good looking) shoes, and shoes designed to help keep you safe. All of our Grade 1 safety shoes incorporate a steel-toe capable of withstanding at minimum 125 joules.

At this time, Mellow Walk does not incorporate a non-metallic toe because it is our belief that composite toe caps represent too much of a compromise in terms of performance and quality of fit. Steel toe caps are traditionally smaller, thinner, offer more toe room and comfort, while continuing to provide excellent safety for the wearer.

Sole Puncture Protection

Not everyone needs sole protection, but for those who do our styles combine comfort with performance to protect users against hazards that may penetrate the sole. Older styles rely on a steel plate, while new styles use Lenzi® exclusively. Lenzi® is comprised of a densely woven non-metallic material that offers better shoe performance in terms of comfort and flexibility, while providing similar sole protection to traditional steel plate.
